Sept 19, 2008 – “Hyundai will launch two 30-second spots during the 2009 Super Bowl, touting its new luxury Genesis coupe. The automaker also will switch creative duties from lead agency Goody, Silverstein & Partners to World Marketing Group.”

For reference, here’s the ads for the sedan that aired last year:

HKS Tunes Genesis Coupe for SEMA

Hyundai let HKS work their magic on a Genesis Coupe for the upcoming SEMA show in Vegas (Nov 4th-7th) and here’s the result:

Looks good to me.

Presumably they’re using the 2.0t as their canvas, adding go-fast bits like an upgraded turbo, exhaust, engine internals and suspension. HKS has shown that they can get the 2.0t’s cousin, the EVO X mill up to ~400hp, I don’t see why they can’t do the same here.

Said Rick Lafferty of HKS USA, “Genesis Coupe has the basic DNA that HKS looks for — an excellent chassis, rear-wheel drive, aggressive styling and a new generation turbo-charged engine. These attributes provide the opportunity for HKS to maximize the Genesis Coupe driving performance capabilities for the serious driving enthusiast…HKS is allocating R&D, engineering and prototyping resources to lay the groundwork for HKS-brand Genesis Coupe performance parts. We are looking forward to working with Hyundai to realize the full performance potential of the Genesis Coupe.”

“We’ve designed Genesis Coupe from the start to be tuner-friendly,” said John Krafcik, vice president, Product Development and Strategic Planning, Hyundai Motor America.

Does Hyundai’s warranty dept know John said this? How quickly do you think Hyundai’s gonna start voiding their now oft-copied 10-yr/100,000-mile warranty?
